Clorox Disinfecting Wipes Review - Fresh Scent Is My Favorite

by Marlena
(Butte, Montana)

Marlena has shared her review of Clorox disinfecting wipes, and how she uses them in her home.

Marlena says:

I really love the Fresh Scent version of these wipes.

The Clorox brand of wipes is slightly expensive, but they are really worth purchasing, at least in my opinion, especially if you have kids. They are much easier for me to use than traditional disinfecting cleaning sprays.

It is very important to me that this product is disinfecting, because I want my child to be safe in my home. I know that wipes that disinfect surfaces will make it more difficult to pick up germs that will make her sick.

I am a stay-at-home mother, so I do not have any time to waste. As a result, I am very thankful that I can just pull out one of these wipes and quickly clean my baby's cherry wood changing table and the marble surfaces around my kitchen and bathroom sinks, for example. They are very gentle on both of these surfaces.

One of my only concerns that I have with the wipes is the fact that they are very difficult to take out of the container. They are in a circular, plastic container, and I have to reach inside a tiny hole with my hand and pull the first one out. I usually end up with the Clorox cleaning solution all over my hands when I do that, so I wish they would put the wipes in another kind of container. I think that a square container would actually be a lot easier for me to use.

Besides that one concern, I am pleased with the Clorox disinfecting wipes, overall.
I buy them every time I go shopping at the local grocery store, and I recommend them to friends.

Taylor says:

Thanks Marlena for sharing your opinions about Clorox disinfecting wipes.

When you said you used these wipes on your wood furniture, I looked up whether this was safe or not, because many products can damage wood that are not made especially for it. To my surprise, they say you can use these wipes on hard surfaces, including wood surfaces treated with polyurethane coating (which is many woods these days). That makes it very convenient.

In addition, unlike some types of disposable cleaning wipes, the cleaning formula in these wipes is also made to clean glass and mirror surfaces, without streaking. That is a great benefit, and makes these a convenient general purpose cleaner.

I would love to hear from some people who use this on glass to tell me how it really works as a glass and window cleaner.

***Update: I got this comment from a reader, sharing her opinion about this claim, and basically she doesn't buy it. She says:
Never mind that the package says to use on mirrors. That will quadruple the time you need to spend cleaning the mirror -- as you clean this substance off.
I'd love to hear from more people sharing how this product works for them on glass, mirrors and windows to see if others agree, or disagree, since I've also gotten some conflicting opinions from other readers.***

Orange Scented Clorox Wipes Keep My Home Clean For My 1 Year Old

by Velda
(Houston, Texas, USA)

Velda has shared her review and uses for orange scented Clorox disinfecting wipes in her home.

Velda says:

I use these wipes on a day-to-day basis to keep my home clean, and to protect my 1-year old daughter from potentially harmful germs and bacteria.

I find the fact that these wipes disinfect very important. The entire point of the extra expense is to remove germs and bacteria - if the product did not do this, I could just use a wet paper towel.

They do a great job of wiping surfaces down and providing a fresh scent. My home smells great when everything is cleaned and smells lightly of orange.

I use these Clorox disinfecting wipes on all kinds of hard surfaces, including my kitchen counters, dining table, doors, door frames, computer table, chairs and cabinets.

Unfortunately nothing is perfect and I feel that these disinfecting wipes dry up too fast when cleaning. They seem to be overloaded in moisture, as they seem to not soak anything up that is wet that needs to be removed from a surface.

Plus, as you progressively get further down in the tub the wipes that remain closer to the surface lose their moisture completely, and you pull dry wipes from the container - even though there is an abundance of the cleaning formula at the bottom of the container, given that a slight lean can cause cleaning product to spill out.

All in all I am satisfied in the product, but if another product came to market I would likely try them to see if they alleviate the issues I have.

Taylor says:

Thanks Velda for your review of this product.

I don't know the timeline for which company came out with disinfecting disposable cleaning wipes first, but I know I remember Clorox being one of the first I was aware of. Therefore, I know I, plus many other people, have stuck with this brand since then out of loyalty.

However, if you don't like something about these wipes there are lots of other varieties you can choose from. You might like to start by reading some disinfecting wipes reviews here, where people have shared their opinions of other brands available.

Even My Husband Can Use Clorox Disinfecting Wipes For Cleaning

by Sandra
(Indianapolis)

Sandra has also reviewed this product, telling what she likes and doesn't, about it.

Sandra says:

Clorox cleaning wipes have been in my house for over 3 years now.

I’m a young self-employed wife and anything to cause less messes is fine with me. They can be taken anywhere.

Best part is I can throw the container at my husband and he knows what to do. For some reason he finds the wipes fun as well. Maybe it’s how there’s little fuss in the method of cleaning that he likes, I don't know.

Also, these wipes are great for interior car cleaning-then easy storage when done.

I do get annoyed by how my hands easily dry out when I touch the wipes too much, but I guess that happens with most cleaners, since I have sensitive skin.

Also, the wipes will dry out eventually and I’ve tried wetting them again, but they don't seem to work as well once that happens.

Overall, these wipes are a a staple in my daily cleaning. Eventually I’ll probably look into other disposable cleaning wipes for glass and leather, but for now I know Clorox is cleaning my home.

Taylor says:

Thanks Sandra for sharing your Clorox disinfecting wipes review.

Anything that encourages your husband to also clean can't be all bad, can it? :)

Clorox Bleach Wipes Are Expensive But They're Worth It

by Helen
(Naperville, IL)

Helen has shared her review of Clorox disinfecting wipes.

Helen says:

I enjoy using Clorox bleach wipes.

The fresh scent is pleasant but not overwhelming. I have used the lemon scent before, but I prefer the fresh scent, since it leaves everything smelling clean.

The wipes are quality, and the perforations tear easily every time. I have used store brand, less-expensive cleaning wipes before and found that they tear unevenly, due to cheap perforations in the wipes.

The Clorox wipes I use have a good amount of liquid on them, enough to wipe a large area, but not so much that it drips on the floor.

I use them all over the house, including my granite kitchen counter, wood and glass table tops, and my stove top. I have even started wiping my hardwood floors with the wipes to do a quick clean.

I am glad the wipes kill germs, because I like to think I am killing bacteria like Salmonella from my countertop as I clean.

If I have one complaint about these wipes it is that they tend to be a little expensive. Lysol wipes are usually a little cheaper, and store brand wipes can be almost half as expensive. Overall though I find the additional expense justified. I have started buying larger packages and stocking up when they are on sale to help offset the cost.

Taylor says:

Thanks Helen for sharing your review with me of the Clorox disinfecting wipes.

You are right, all kinds of disposable cleaning products can be quite expensive, because you have to keep buying them over and over. That is, I guess, the "price" you pay for the convenience, if you can forgive the pun.

For those of us cutting costs and trimming expenses, I am curious, do you still pay extra for the convenience of disposables? Do you have any alternatives?

You can share your disinfecting wipes review here, for this or any other brand, telling me what you like, or don't, about it and why.

use after handling raw meat
by: Lorie

I like to have Clorox wipes in the kitchen so after I do something with raw meat I can quickly wipe down the counter.

Container issue
by: Anonymous

I read the article on how this person likes how the wipes work but you did not answer her dislike on how the container works. I just emailed Clorox because it is really annoying when you pull one one out the rest stay at the bottom you struggle to get another out or you end up taking of the lid which is hard to remove to get to another wipe, they need to change that. Again it is really annoying.

Great on glass
by: Lenborkut

I use the wipes to clean my glass shower doors and my mirrors. I wipe down the glass with the disinfecting, let it dry for a couple of minutes, and then buff it up with a dry paper towel. No streaks, looks great, is better than anything else I've ever used. I'll be trying in with windows soon. The best discovery was that the wipes cut through soap scum on the shower doors. Love this product!

Black Cooktop
by: Elle

I used Clorox for years on a black cooktop with great results. Realize that if there is a great deal of splattered grease, more wipes will be needed. I once bought an off brand and had nothing but streaks. I did try them on mirrors without the same results. I assume it is from the reflected nature of the surface. If I use them for mirrors, I just buff out streaks with a paper towel or microfiber towel.
