Mrs. Meyer's All Purpose Cleaner Review - Geranium Scent

by Megan
(Fort Wayne, IN)

Megan has shared her Mrs. Meyer's all purpose cleaner review.

Megan says:

I started using Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day All Purpose Cleaner with Geranium Scent on the recommendation of a friend, and boy am I happy with it.

Being a vegetarian, I am extremely pleased to find a quality cleaning product which is not tested on animals.

In addition, since the product is biodegradable, I feel comfortable using it all around the house knowing that it will not affect my family's health.

I am allergic to many soaps and cleaners, but have no problems with this product. I especially love using this product around the kitchen and dining room.

It removes coffee, juice and food stains on the counters without a hitch. On the oven, it helps remove stuck-on food. I even use it to mop the floors and clean the glass streak-free.

The geranium scent makes the house smell fresh and clean.

Although this product is expensive compared to other cleaning products, it is well worth it and actually goes a long way (32 oz lasted me a year). I would highly recommend this product to a friend.

Taylor says:

Megan, thanks for sharing your Mrs. Meyer's all purpose cleaner review.

This cleaner is concentrated, meaning that it needs to be diluted before use. That is why it lasts so long.

I have actually gotten several questions about
how to dilute it properly, so I'll tell you what I've found out. For mopping, and other purposes where you need a large amount of cleaner you should add 1/4 cup of the Mrs. Meyer's all purpose cleaner into 1 gallon of warm water.

As you said, you can then use the cleaner in many different areas of your home. It can even be used on hardwood floors, marble, granite, Corian, tile, and other hard surfaces, as long as they are sealed.

(Please note, I received this question about rinsing the floor after using this product here. Check it out for more information on this issue.)

However, if you aren't washing big surfaces this is probably way too much cleaning solution to make at once. To make just a small amount of cleaner, that you can spray out from a spray bottle, for instance, combine 4 tablespoons of the all purpose cleaner with 1 cup of water. You should use this amount in about 1-2 months.

I would love to hear from other people who have used this, or any other Mrs. Meyer's cleaning or laundry products, to share your opinions about it. You can share your Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day review here, or read other reviews already submitted.

Mrs. Meyers Clean Day Lavender All Purpose Cleaner Review - I Recommend It To My Real Estate Clients

by Maura
(Fresno, CA)

Maura has shared her Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day lavender scented all purpose cleaner review.

Maura says:

As everyone knows, today's economy is very tough on the real estate market. Sellers have saturated the market with properties in the past few years.

I'm a real estate agent, and I often help people stage their homes for sale. One thing I always tell my clients is that you should be aware that the first thing potential buyers notice when entering a home is cleanliness or lack there of. They also notice the scent of the house.

I often will suggest Mrs. Meyer's lavender all purpose cleaner to my clients, if they need to spruce up the home a bit before we put it on the market. I use it in my own home too.

One of the great things about this cleaner is that it cleans like a heavy duty dirt buster but without the harsh smell of chemicals. Instead, after using it you smell a nice scent of flowers throughout your home.

Starting in the kitchen this cleaner dissolves grease from the toughest areas with ease, including the area above the oven which is always the true test of any cleaner. For these really tough areas I often use it undiluted to really degrease the area.

On counter tops it even removes those dreaded juice stains.

When diluted I use it for my floors, including hardwood and tile.

Finally, if there are smudges on the wall Mrs. Meyer's all purpose cleaner gets them clean without me being scared of removing paint.

Overall, I love this cleaner and think it has done a great job in my home, and in the homes of my clients.

Taylor says:

Mrs. Meyer's All Purpose Cleaner Great In Other Scents, But Not Snap Pea

by Connie
(Pike Creek, Delaware)

Connie has shared her review of Mrs. Meyer's snap pea scent of cleaning products.

Connie says:

I love Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day products. They are a good, safe alternative to harsh standard cleaners that we are all used to.

The all purpose cleaner is great and can be used all kinds of places. I have used it to clean counter tops, mop my hardwood and tile floors as well as to clean the bathroom. I have never challenged the product to a task it did not perform well.

Now one of the things I think usually makes Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day products so great are the unique and intense smells. However, I will say that is not a benefit when it comes to the snap pea scent.

The smell is very intense and definitely lingers, however it is not a pleasant smell. I know that this is personal opinion and if you are fond of synthetic cut grass smell I think this in in the same family.

For days after I used the snap pea cleaner I would have people come in to my house and ask what the smell was.

I will purchase the all purpose cleaner again but not in snap pea no matter if it is on sale or not.

Taylor says:

Connie, thanks for your Mrs. Meyer's all purpose cleaner review.

I did a little research into the snap pea scent, and found that it has been discontinued. I would guess that other people thought it smelled pretty bad too. You can't even find a mention of it on Mrs. Meyer's official website anymore, like it is an embarrassment they would rather just forget.

So, does anyone else use Mrs. Meyer's products to clean their home and laundry? If so, please share your Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day product review here, telling me what you like (or don't) about these products.

Mrs. Meyer's All Purpose Cleaner Review - Lemon Verbena Scent

by SR101 Reader

A Stain Removal 101 reader has shared her review of Mrs. Meyer's all purpose cleaner, in the lemon verbena scent.

She says:

I purchased this product several years ago while helping prepare my grandparents' home to sell.

I was pregnant at the time, and there was a variety of very old surfaces in poor condition that needed to be cleaned prior to repair and painting. Hardwood floors, peeling wallpaper, unpainted plaster walls, 100 year old ceramic tiles, etc.

Two of the major factors in deciding what cleaner to use were that I was pregnant, and there were cats in the house.

I felt comfortable using this cleaner while pregnant, and I knew that citrus scents can help knock down cat odors. I purchased it at an Ace hardware store.

The cleaner was very effective when used with microfiber cloths and Scotch Brite pads. No surfaces were damaged, and the 32 ounce bottle went a long way.

No allergies were aggravated (I come from a long line of people with environmental allergies) and the fragrance lingered pleasantly.

I enjoyed the fragrance enough that I still use this product in my own home, 5 years later. I really like that I can now pick it up at Walmart instead of having to order online.

Taylor says:

Thank you so much for your review of Mrs. Meyer's all purpose cleaner.

When they say it is all purpose, they really do mean it. I was amazed when I found out how many things it can clean, from floors, counters, and bathroom and kitchen surfaces.

It also does go a long way, since it is concentrated, and needs to be diluted before use.

Stinks to high heaven. Cannot get rid of odor after cleaning with it.

Mixing ratios
by: Jocelyn

The directions for mixing Mrs. Myers says 1/4 cup of concentrate per 1 gallon of warm water. So if you're wanting to make less than that for a spray bottle or whatever it be, you should mix 2 tablespoons of concentrate, and half gallon of water. I read above someone say to do 4 tablespoons of concentrate with 1 cup of water and because 4 tablespoons is actually the same amount as 1/4 cup, I do not recommend. Especially only using it with one cup of water when normally your suppose to use that same amount of concentrate with 1 entire gallon of water. That's really wasteful with the product and it's going to be really strong. Again instead, you should do 2 tablespoons of the Mrs. Myers concentrate with a half a gallon of water, or if you want to make even less than that, you can use 3 teaspoons of Mrs. Myers concentrate with 1 quart(or 4 cups) of water. Hope this helps.
