Gain Apple Mango Tango Detergent Review

by Victoria M.
(Janesville, WI, USA)

Victoria says:

I've been using Gain Apple Mango Tango liquid laundry detergent for the past 3 years and I absolutely love it. It smells absolutely amazing and my husband and kids love it too.

It removes most stains that other detergents do not.

I've never had any problems with this product. No skin allergies or anything.

It removes all odors and replaces them with the smell of the detergent.

I have the regular kind not the HE but I do believe they make it in the HE version too.

It's perfect for any kind of fabric no matter how delicate it doesn't affect it at all. I would recommend this to all my friends and family and most of them even actually use it themselves.

Taylor says:

Thanks Victoria for your Gain detergent review. I have not personally tried the scent of Apple Mango Tango, but I have always loved the name.

I think it must be a pretty popular scent, because I've noticed Gain makes it for not only the detergent, but also for fabric softener, dryer sheets, and also for other products too like fabric refresher. They have even come out with a dish soap that uses this fragrance.

I would like to hear from others to share their opinions about this scent of Gain detergent, or any other scent they use. You can share your Gain laundry detergent reviews here.

In addition, you can share reviews of any other laundry detergent here, telling me which ones you like (or don't).

Apple Mango Tango Scented Gain Is Number One!!!

by Carol Dubal
(Conyers, GA, USA)

Carol has shared her review of Gain laundry detergent, in the Apple Mango Tango scent.

Carol says:

Gain Apple Tango Mango became my favorite during a trip to the beach a few years ago. While staying with friends I noticed how good the towels smelled. There were 10 of us staying at the house so you can imagine how many loads of laundry we were doing!!!

Everything game out so clean (even the grease stains from shrimp scampi) & smelled so good.

It became my detergent at that time. This past winter in a new house we used one of those indoor dryer vents and the house was warmer but the smell was awesome! Everyone that came in would go on & on about how good the placed smelled. I told everyone it was Gain Apple Mango Tango!!

Now my three daughter-in-laws use it, my sisters, & a number of new neighbors. I hope it comes out in a plug in air freshener so we can keep the smell through the spring & summer!!!

Taylor says:

Thanks Carol for sharing your review.

As you can see from additional reviews others have also shared with me, those that love this scent really love it. I guess that is why Gain has come out with some additional items besides just laundry products. Of course, they have the detergent, fabric softener and dryer sheets, but now they also have Febreze Fabric Refresher in the scent, as well as dish soap in the scent. Has anyone used either of these products? Do they have the same smell that everyone seems to love? If you know, please send in your reviews, as I would love to hear about it.

In addition, you can share your own Gain laundry detergent review here of this, or any other Gain scent, or read other reviews already submitted.

Gain actually has lots of scents, so I would love to hear about even more of them if you have opinions, good or bad.

Gain Detergent Apple Mango Tango Changed It Scent And Now It's No Good!

by Lisa

Lisa says:

I have been using Gain Apple Mango Tango ("AMT") scent for a few years now, since the first time I saw the goofy guy on the bus commercial.

It cost more than what I was using at the time, but I LOVED LOVED LOVED the scent!!

Then a few weeks ago, I went to the store and purchased both soap and fabric softener, went home to do laundry and got a NASTY surprise! They had changed the scent completely!

I absolutely HATE the new AMT and want to know who to complain to to get the old AMT scent back!

Is there anyone else who agrees with me, and is frustrated with no one to write to or email???

I want my old Apple Mango Tango back!!!!

PLEASE!!! I have spent quite a large amount of money trying to find a new soap/softener package that I am happy with, but to no avail!

Taylor says:

Lisa, thanks for telling me about the change in scent for Gain detergent, Apple Mango Tango scent.

I actually looked on the Gain website, and actually saw someone else there complaining that the new scent "smells like grape cough medicine," and was equally unhappy.

I would love to hear from more people in the comments to say whether you've tried the new scent and feel the same way, or whether you've even noticed a difference at all.

I know that the Apple Mango Tango scent of Gain is quite popular. In fact, you aren't the first reader to tell me why they love it.

I am going to tweet this review for you to Gain's Twitter account, so hopefully they will get your message!

So, does anyone else have a favorite laundry detergent they want to tell me about? If so, you can share your laundry detergent reviews here, telling me which detergent you like, and why.

In addition, you can share your own Gain laundry detergent review here, or read others already submitted.

Scent too strong!
by: Anonymous

I went to the laundromat to wash my heavy laundry. It was very busy, but a woman just finished using a machine and I noticed she was using Gain Apple Mango Tango. I used the same machine with my unscented detergent since I am allergic to scents. After the wash my laundry smelled like Gain Apple Mango Tango. I washed my laundry 3 times after that and it still smelled like Gain Apple Mango Tango. Do they have to make the scent so strong that it lingers after 4 washes?

Smells like cat pee.
by: Anonymous

The scent of Gain Apple Mango Tango used to be fruity and delicious. Now, all of my freshly laundered clothes are left with a smell reminiscent of… well, cat urine.

The biting, ammonia-like scent is nauseating, especially when clothing or towels become slightly damp from rain, humidity, or perspiration. Any level of moisture in the fabric effectively magnifies this new formulation’s painful and acrid aroma. Nose now burns on inhale and sinus headache usually follows.

What a shame.

Scent change
by: Shanea

Apple Mango Tango was my favorite laundry detergent until as of recently. Only one store in my area carries the detergent and I eagerly purchased two bottles to last me. Like others have mentioned, I noticed a completely different scent. It is very strong and pungent. The scent makes me nauseated. I thought it was all in my head or maybe the smell was off due to my heightened sense of smell after having a baby. I decided to go to trusty google (LOL) to see if others had the same issue. Please go back to the old scent. Thos is awful! I have been using it for YEARS I tell you and I absolutely hate change. No detergent compared to the original Gain Apple Mango Tango scent.

Gain made a huge mistake!
by: Rachael

First, I just want to say I hate writing reviews. So that should tell you how much this has bothered me that I’m writing one now. Me and my family use to LOVE the smell of Gain’s Apple Mango Tango laundry detergent. Honestly, I wasn’t one to spend a lot of money on detergent, but I paid whatever was required to get that detergent. Then out of nowhere I couldn’t find it on the shelves anywhere! We’ve gone years using other detergents that were ok but never as good as that AMT smell. Then all of a sudden we moved to another state and I found it on the shelf again! Needless to say, I was about as excited as anyone could be about detergent in that moment. There was no way I was leaving that store without it and I almost bought two! It’s a good thing I didn’t though because much to my surprise, I was about to be in for a huge letdown. After rushing home and washing a load of laundry faster than I ever have in my life. I quickly pulled my clothes from the washer to smell and it was horrible! I can’t even describe it actually, just one of the worst cheap smelling detergents ever. Nothing like Gain previously smelled, sweet floral apples. NOPE!! Gain IDK what you were thinking but please bring the old Apple Mango Tango smell back or just take that c*** off the shelves! We’re not fooled and you’re not doing us any favors!
