Tips For Ironing Sheets

by Marilyn Neumann

Marilyn has shared her tips for ironing sheets, including for how to do it more easily.

Marilyn says:

I have a king sized bed, but I like my sheets to look crisp and fresh after they are laundered. How do I do this? I iron the sheets after I put them on the bed.

I get an extension cord and plug in my steam iron in my bedroom. I put on the fitted sheet and quickly iron it. This not only makes the sheets nice, but the steam kills all of the dust mites you might have had on the mattress.

Then I put on the top sheet. I turn down the top and iron this sheet as well.

From start to finish it probably takes 5 minutes and my sheets are nice and ironed.

I also iron the pillowcases while they are on top of the bed. More steam for the mites and voila!

I even iron the sides of the sheets...not so much for the smoothness, but for the freshness the steam gives to my bedding.

Taylor says:

Marilyn, thanks so much for these great tips for ironing sheets.

This sounds like an easy way to do it, if you want to have this fabric be wrinkle free.

I will confess, however, that I don't personally bother with this myself. I'm just proud when I have clean sheets for both myself and my kids.

However, I know how luxurious it can feel to lay in a nice clean, fresh smelling, bed and I can imagine this little additional touch could make it just that much better.

Does anyone else have any tips or tricks they use when they iron their linens or sheets? If so, you can share your tips here.
