Clean Your Sponges Regularly

Below is a quick tip video giving instructions for cleaning sponges in the microwave.

The instructions are to place your sponge in the microwave, while damp, and heat it for 1 minute.

I myself use this tip, so I agree it is a good one.

However, I feel like I should also add some additional instructions.

First, make sure you only place your sponge into the microwave and heat it when it is damp -- never when it is dry or you could start a fire in your microwave.

Next, you should exercise caution when taking your sponge out of the microwave after heating because it will be scalding hot.

I always let it cool again for a couple of minutes before I pick it back up.

Finally, killing germs from your sponge is an excellent habit to get into, because after all you are using that sponge to clean your home or wash you dishes.

You don't want to be spreading germs everywhere when your goal is to be cleaning them up.

That is why I suggest cleaning your sponge in the microwave every week, at the least.
