Carbona Carpet Cleaner Review: 2 In 1 Oxy Powered With Scrubber Brush

by Taylor

A while ago I was sent a bottle of Carbona Carpet Cleaner by the company, specifically the 2 in 1 oxy powered version with the built in scrubber brush, but we didn't ever have a need for a carpet stain remover and I never had a chance to test it out.

Frankly, it was a small miracle that we didn't have to clean the carpets much, with as messy as my kids are, but I do have some rules in place which have cut down on the messes.

I guess such a streak was too good too last though. Not too long ago my sweet little girl apparently gorged on way too many Cuties oranges while her grandmother was watching her and she threw up all over everything in her room, multiple times, that night. It was gross, very very gross.

So gross that I'm not sharing photos with you. I never want to see it again, and I'm sure you don't want to see it either.

When that happened we all of a sudden really needed a carpet cleaner, and quickly. There was vomit all over the carpet (as well as dolls, stuffed animals, clothes, her, the mattress, sheets, etc.)

While I was busy bathing my daughter and throwing blankets and other bedding into the washing machine I handed my husband the hastily grabbed bottle of Carbona and told him to get to it.

Therefore, this review is based partially on what he later reported back to me about the product, since he was the primary user of it.

Before using it he removed the main "clumps" of throw up and he was just left with what was soaked into the carpet.

To use this product you squeeze the bottle gently, which wets the brush applicator. The middle of the applicator is foam, and then there are bristles around the edges of it, so you can both rub and scrub the cleaner onto the stained area.

You rub the scrubber head into the stained area and then let
it sit for approximately three minutes, and then remove excess cleaner with a clean damp cloth.

He had to do this a couple of times to get all the stains up, but the carpet does look clean now, and I have not noticed any nasty odor coming from the area, which is a plus.

In fact, on the back of the bottle the product says that it "eliminates odors and leaves area treated sanitary, which will discourage repeated pet accidents." Well, this wasn't a pet accident, but it could easily have left a smell behind and thankfully using this product that did not occur.

I will say, however, I don't think my husband rinsed away the cleaner well enough after he was finished using it, since later the area dried very hard and stiff, and as you walk barefoot on the carpet in her room you can feel the spots where we treated it with this cleaner.

I think that is user error though, and thankfully the dried spots haven't been drawing additional dirt to them as some cleaning residues can, so that's a plus.

The bottle says you can also use this product on your upholstery, but I haven't tried this. I would assume it would work as well on the upholstery as the carpet though, and I plan on trying it out on such a stain if such an accident presents itself in our home in the future.
